Reviews and Ratings
The hotel has a quiet country pub charm, tucked away from the noise yet close to the town center. The rooms, though small and dark, were adjacent to each other, providing a cozy atmosphere. The service was top-notch, and the staff were very helpful. The dining experience was disappointing with virtually cold breakfast, but the baby back ribs stood out. Despite the downside of a few cramped tables, the location was very good with easy access to the center.
My stay at the hotel was a bit mixed. The rooms were well-furnished and up-to-date, but I felt they weren't entirely worth the higher price of £298 for 2 days. Although affected by some kitchen fan noise, they were decent overall. The shower was quite small and almost unusable, which was a downside.
The hotel is a great choice for its convenient location near the station and an easy walk into town. The rooms, though in need of an upgrade, are clean and well-equipped, with modern decorations. The service was particularly accommodating and helpful, which was a definitive bonus for a solo traveler like me. While the dining experience featured well-cooked meals, the use of tinned ingredients was a downside. The hotel offers great style and class, making it an excellent choice for accessing Durham.
