The hotel has a quiet country pub charm, tucked away from the noise yet close to the town center. The rooms, though small and dark, were adjacent to each other, providing a cozy atmosphere. The service was top-notch, and the staff were very helpful. The dining experience was disappointing with virtually cold breakfast, but the baby back ribs stood out. Despite the downside of a few cramped tables, the location was very good with easy access to the center.

6.8/10

My stay at the hotel was a bit mixed. The rooms were well-furnished and up-to-date, but I felt they weren't entirely worth the higher price of £298 for 2 days. Although affected by some kitchen fan noise, they were decent overall. The shower was quite small and almost unusable, which was a downside.

Service
6.0
The service at the hotel was a bit inconsistent. Some staff members were brilliant and very helpful, while others seemed half asleep or not very attentive. Overall, the service had its ups and downs.
Location
8.0
The location of the hotel was excellent, with a short walk into the city and close proximity to the Flass nature reserve. It was convenient for exploring Durham and had plenty of free parking available. However, it was a bit far from the railway station.
Dining
6.0
The dining options at the hotel were somewhat limited and basic. The choice selection was decent, but the quality of some items like the bread for toast could have been better. The pricing was a bit on the expensive side after already paying a significant amount for the room.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel had some good facilities, but they were not exceptional. I found the overall offering satisfactory, but nothing extraordinary stood out during my stay.

The hotel is a great choice for its convenient location near the station and an easy walk into town. The rooms, though in need of an upgrade, are clean and well-equipped, with modern decorations. The service was particularly accommodating and helpful, which was a definitive bonus for a solo traveler like me. While the dining experience featured well-cooked meals, the use of tinned ingredients was a downside. The hotel offers great style and class, making it an excellent choice for accessing Durham.
